Our Company
In 1966, Sandy Poritzky (Mr.) founded The Skill Bureau (TSB), a temporary help service for screening, testing, and placing of applicants. It was the first time a temporary help service had offered a 2-day unconditional, money back guarantee, allowing a company to provide feedback to TSB regarding the quality of their applicants. This marked the company’s first foray into custom-matching talent with client needs. As The Skill Bureau expanded, client demands led to the creation of the Tape Transcription Center (TTC), a specialized off-shoot dedicated to transcription services, and the only company that required its staff to maintain an at least 60 wpm typing speed. Upholding the impeccably high standards set by Sandy, who is prone to exceeding the operating standards of the industries in which his company serves, TTC was re-branded to the Audio Transcription Center (ATC), and has continued to solidify itself as an industry leader. Today, ATC is renowned for its exceptional accuracy, reliability, and commitment to quality transcription services.

Our Team
Sandy Poritzky (Mr.), is a first-generation American born son of Eastern European Jews who immigrated to the United States. He comes from a family of hard working entrepreneurs where most everyone has owned at least one business of their own. After working as the personnel Director for a law book publishing company, Sandy moved to Boston, met and married his lovely wife Janice, and opened numerous businesses, eventually founding the Audio Transcription Center.
Michael joined ATC in 2006 and has been fundamental in driving the company to continued success over the past 18 years. During that time, he has refined his expertise in business development, marketing, and operations work-flow management. He studied Anthropology and East Asian Studies at Adelphi University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). While there, he was also able to develop and nurture his love for writing and photography. If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Michael in Zoom, in person, or have spoken to him on the phone, you’ll immediately recognize his dedication to ATC and the world of transcription.
Kris began at ATC as a transcriptionist in 2012, migrated into a Production Assistant to help on a large scale 2600 hour project in the first quarter of 2016, and became a Production Coordinator in November of 2016. Since joining the production team, he has coordinated the adoption of closed captioning service, and draws on his upbringing and academic background to oversee projects related to Eastern Europe, Yiddish, and Judaica. Previously, Kris was a freelance film journalist. His reviews, essays, interviews, and festival write-ups have been seen in DigBoston, C-Ville Weekly, Newsweek, Paste, and Scout magazines. He is currently part of the team of volunteers behind Screen Boston, the city’s guide to repertory listings.
Kristof joined the ATC team in December of 2018. He grew up on family farm in rural North Dakota, but left the prairie to pursue graduate studies in history at UMass Boston. He does not miss North Dakotan winters, just the peace and quiet. Kristof loves most things nerdy, including cooking, tabletop games, reading, his two cats, and collecting vintage fountain pens. He brings his passion for history and keen attention to detail to ATC’s meticulous transcription work.
