Our Experiences

Story Corps is a national nonprofit oral history project recording oral history interviews of everyday projects. It has been described as the largest oral history project in the nation's history. We have transcribed hundreds of interviews from which Story Corps is presently publishing their second and third book.

American Feminist Oral Histories

Ongoing oral history interviews of major players in the Feminist Movement over the past 40 years. We assigned transcriptionists with feminist history college majors to produce the transcripts.

Project 2 - Transcription of over 100 interviews of Jewish victims of Katrina. Interviews were mainly conducted in New Orleans, but also included the entire Gulf Coast.

American Labor Oral History

Transcription of audio interviews of the history of different unions, interviews on topics from the civil rights era in relation to different union movements, as well as how the labor movement affected the lives of women and African-Americans.

Corporate Oral History

One of our clients travels the world for Corporate Oral History projects. Most recently, we completed transcripts of a large-scale international oil producer, which were recorded overseas.

Jewish-American Oral Histories

Project 1 - Transcription of over 60 interviews of elderly Jewish women who made a major impact on their communities. Several subjects were foreign-born and spoke with numerous cultural speech references. We assigned transcribers with Hebrew/Yiddish language skills who were familiar with Jewish culture.

Military Oral History

Over 200 hours of in-person and telephone interviews of US military and civilian personnel serving in, or providing stateside support of military operations in the Persian Gulf. In addition to transcription, we staffed a military oral historian to conduct the interviews. We transcribed interviews averaging one hour in length in digital audio formats and returned them within 1-3 days.

Ongoing transcription of interviews of active duty and retired US army personnel serving in the Persian Gulf. We receive and transcribe the one hour interviews in groups of 40. Many of these interviews were conducted under battlefield conditions.

Transcribed over 400 oral history interviews of retired Marine Corps personnel for a private military archive.

Current Political Histories

On-going confidential interviews of high-profile political figures. Transcripts are produced and reviewed by political science and history majors as well as political junkies (like the Owner/President of TTC). Digital audio files are sent in groups of 5-6 hours and completed within 3 days on average.

Contemporary Black History

Transcription of an ongoing oral history project of contemporary Black history. A majority of the transcripts were transcribed from recordings that were over 40 years old, and originally recorded on reel-to-reel tape. TTC transcribed from digitized versions of the audio.

Transcription of interviews with prominent African Americans relating to contemporary Black history.

Latino Cultural History

Transcription of a series of interviews conducted by a cultural anthropologist studying the efforts of the Latino community to preserve their cultural heritage. Many of the interviews were transcribed in Spanish.

Political History

Transcription of political and university-wide oral history interviews.

Transcribing Script/Handwritten/Typed Documents

An ongoing project of transcribing several thousand personal handwritten and typed letters of a major historical African leader.

Market Research

Transcription of over 2000 hours of focus group interviews following a proprietary format/line of questioning. The interviews are broken into specific categories of products ranging from alcoholic beverages to cholesterol lowering medication. These ongoing projects require a 2-3 day turnaround for transcription of approximately 20 hours of audio per segment.

Investor Relations

Over 200 hours of new medical device announcements, company quarterly financial announcements, and product change status updates with market impact in digital audio formats. Each audio file was typically 1-3 hours long and required a 1-2 day turnaround.

Social Science Research

Involved over 100 interviews of English-speaking Chinese MBAs worldwide as part of a 25-year project. Digital interviews were electronically transmitted from China and other international locations. Transcripts were returned within 24-48 hours via e-mail to their source.

Technical Webcasts

Transcription of 3-4 one hour long digital audio files per week as a part of ongoing support of highly technical computer hardware and software related on-line seminars. We provide a 1-2 day turnaround for each file.

Financial Investments

Numerous interviews of internal staff and customers as well as internal product presentations. We transcribe approximately 20, 1-1.5 hour segments per month. Turnaround time is typically 24 hours or less.

Scholarly Meetings

Transcription of recorded meeting proceedings, lectures, and presentations conducted by special guest scholars. Transcripts were created from video, as well as analog and digital audio recordings.
